‘Tis the season for the Luau and record profits. Summer means big things in Stardew Valley, even if it’s your first year. Now that you’ve cleared some land and tilled some tidy rows, there’s one thing left to do: pick seeds. Considering the different seed costs, growth times, and sale prices, it can be hard to know how much you stand to make. Whether you have a shed full of Casks just waiting for Hops or are planting your first Blueberries, here are the best summer crops in Stardew Valley.

Summer in Stardew Valley means green rain and a chance to capitalize on some of the best crops in the game. What makes a summer crop the best in Stardew Valley is the profit margin. The cheaper the seeds and shorter the growth time, the more you can make. That’s true even if the crop sells for a bundle. With that in mind, here are the best crops for the season:

Be aware that each Blueberry plant produces three Blueberries, not one. There’s also a 2% chance of producing more, so the Cost/Sell ratio above is misleading. Sell these berries, and you won’t be blue at all! Once you get access to the Greenhouse, their ability to regrow from the same plant makes them even more valuable over time.

Summer Crop Tips

Hops is a high-maintenance crop since it’s only really valuable once you put it in a Keg to make Pale Ale. Starfruit sells for quite a bit, but its seeds are pricy. You won’t make a huge profit unless you’re dropping it into Kegs too. Once you do, it becomes the best single-growth summer crop in Stardew Valley. Blueberries are your best bet for year one, but Melons outclass them in later years once you have access to large numbers of Casks and Preserves Jars. Short-term profits are important, but so is sustainability.
