As much as having good teammates is a blessing, having bad ones is a curse. It is honestly much better to play solo than to team up with players who will ruin the experience for you, especially in a game like Escape from Tarkov. But playing solo has its own series of challenges that can potentially frustrate you even further. So what’s the solution? Learning a few tips and tricks might be the remedy you are looking for. Here is a series of tips that can improve your solo experience in Escape from Tarkov.

There are many bold reasons why a player might decide to play Escape from Tarkov solo. Whether it’s because of the challenge or simply not having a good teammate, there is no denying that solo will make the game much more difficult. There will always be times that you will be outnumbered, you’ll reach the weight limit and have to drop previous loot, and there is no support in case you get stuck somewhere. We’ve gathered a series of tips that will improve your solo gameplay in Escape from Tarkov, but it is important to understand that at the end of the day, playing and practicing more and more is the key to getting better at the game.

1 – The Necessary Items to Have in Your Injector Case

Necessary Health Items

You can carry different injections in your Injector Case. When you are playing solo, you need to change which injections you must carry. The four Medical Items you must always have with yourself in a solo run are these:

  • Zagustin Hemostatic
  • Propital Regenerative
  • SJ6 TGLabs
  • M.U.L.E.

Zagustin will remove and stop the bleeding effect for 200 seconds. In solo runs, you will face multiple enemies alone, and your chances of getting a bleeding effect are high. So, using a Zagusting will give you the necessary boost to face multiple opponents. Alongside that, Propital will increase your Vitality, Health, and Metabolism by 20. That way, you can take a bit more damage while knowing you won’t get the bleeding effect.

The next medical item crucial for every solo player in Escape from Tarkov is SJ6 TGLabs. This item increases your maximum stamina and stamina recovery rate, which can be very helpful when you want to extract. The partner in crime of SJ6 is the M.U.L.E. injection that increases your weight limit to 900 seconds. One of the main challenges you face in the solo run is going over the weight limit. Using both of these items will help you a lot when you are extracting at the end of the match.

2 – Keep Your Ear Tuned

Playing solo, in general, means you have to do the work of the team, and that also means paying attention to every sound you hear. Escape from Tarkov doesn’t have the best voice editing and audio design. Therefore, it can be confusing whether the sound is caused by some bug or an enemy nearby. Either way, be sharp and consider everything a threat. It is always best to be on your guard all the game rather than losing the game for discharging a possible threat.

3 – Choose Places with Escape Options

In the world of Escape from Tarkov, getting cornered is the synonym of dying. Unless your opponent has bad aim, otherwise you are finished if you are stuck in a place with no place to escape. So, when you want to arrange your loot or use something from inventory, make sure you choose a place that has an escape option. For instance, a room with a window that you can jump down is always the best place.

4 – Don’t Be Afraid to Run in Escape from Tarkov

Running is Better than Dying

Don’t ever forget that your main goal in Escape from Tarkov is to complete one or a few missions and get out of there. That means you have to learn that some fights aren’t worth it, and escaping from them is a far better option than dying heroically. Save your loot, use a SJ6 to run faster, and don’t bother with every fight that will come your way.

5 – Not All Loot is Worth Picking Up in Escape From Tarkov

Sometimes it is Best to Leave the Loot Behind

This tip is the twin sister of the previous tip. Once again, your goal is to survive in EFT, not to kill all the enemies. What you should remember here, though, is that you are a lone wolf here. When you kill an opponent, and you know they had a teammate, leave the loot for the sake of your life. 90% of the time, the other teammate will use their eliminated teammate’s loot as bait to kill you. So, as hard as it is, leave the loot behind for your own sake of survival.

6 – Take the Initiative

When you see one or a few enemies that you must fight, always take the initiative. Don’t give them a chance to react and see you. When you are taking the initiative, they have to adapt to how you attack and what your strategy is. This will give you the advantage of taking the narrative of the fight on your hands and, therefore, have the upper hand in defeating them..

7 – Have a Decent Secondary Weapon and Grenades

Grenades are you best friends

If you prefer using sniper in Escape from Tarkov, then you must have a decent secondary weapon that can help you in close-range combat. Pistols aren’t that good in Escape From Tarkov, so don’t even try to use them. Instead, carry an SMG or assault rifle that would at least give proper damage that might end up saving your life.

Apart from that, don’t underestimate the power of grenades. They can become your best friend when you are 1v2 or 1v3, especially in tight areas. Experienced players will take positions in such a way that if you kill one of them, the other will take you down. But by throwing a grenade, you can give yourself a chance to kill both or at least one of them. That way, you can either escape from the situation or finish the remaining opponent.

Those were all the tips that would benefit your solo play in Escape From Tarkov. However, we must remind you once again that the main way you can become a better solo player is to play the game a lot, improve your reaction time and aim, and lastly, create a unique strategy for yourself.

Escape From Tarkov is only available on PC.
