The Wandering Wight is among the very first boss-like creatures you’ll encounter in Black Myth: Wukong. Well, it’s more of an area boss than anything, towering high above any other enemy in the area while also being deceptively easy to take down. He’s also a great adversary for understanding what the rest of the game has in store for you before you get too far.

The Wandering Wight is located in the Forest of Wolves. Before you walk into the woods, you’ll be asked to light an Incense candle to mark your progress. Here, you will continue north until you meet two enemies you must defeat. Afterward, continue north until you encounter a bridge with another enemy.

After defeating the enemy, make a hard right and continue straight until you encounter the jade-headed monster. His body resembles that of a giant baby, while his head looks to be modeled after a man-beast. He wears ragged clothes and moves rather wobbly.

Wandering Wight Boss Strategy

Fighting the Wandering Wight is a matter of patience and grinding. Because Wukong works a little differently than other Soulsborne games, you can keep your Exp and advancements, even after dying. Considering that, you can head around the Forest of Wolves, defeating monsters until you gather enough Sparks to strengthen your abilities.

Be careful when you’re ready to jump into the fight; although he’s a huge baby, his moves can kill you in a single blow. The moves you need to be aware of include:

  • Floor Pound – He will pound the ground three times in a row, stopping momentarily between each connection of his hand on the ground. The only way to bypass this is to time your jump or dodge jumps to parry them.
  • Energy Shot – Typically after his floor pound, he will clasp his hands together and blow a large gust of elemental air in your direction. This happens after he slams on the ground, so get out of his way whenever he does so. This is the move that can kill you in one shot.

To summarize, you’ll want to study the above moves to defeat the Wandering Wight. That, combined with the Immobilize technique that you learned just before walking into the Forest of Wolves, is the winning combination.
