Being a woman is not easy. Aside from the impossible expectations of beauty, women are also often the target of harassment by men. Just ask a woman you know and it is highly likely she has at least one instance where she was harassed by men in public. Most of the time, it is just catcalling, which is annoying enough, but things can escalate further. For TikToker iiangelxox5, she recently experienced a harrowing event while jogging in downtown Los Angeles, California. She was simply minding her business when a man began verbally harassing her while driving slowly in his car.
She rejected his advances, but that only seemed to trigger him. Feeling threatened, the Los Angeles woman began recording the incident. She repeatedly told him to stay away while the man shouted at her to stop recording and repeatedly called her a “b****” and a “h***.” At one point, he even got out of his car and tried to approach her.
The woman kept her distance and continued recording while firmly telling him to get away. Eventually, the man backed off, returned to his car, and drove away. She decided it was time to call the police and reported the incident. However, as she was doing so, the man made a U-turn and drove back toward her. Hopping out of his car again, he threatened to kill her while brandishing a gun.
The woman quickly retreated into a nearby spa. A security guard witnessed the incident and attempted to intervene, which made the man back off. He was later arrested by police and identified as 46-year-old Isaiah Clifton Gaines. TikTok user iiangelxox5 shared his information online, telling her followers that he was being held on a $15,000 bond. He was later released, after which his family began harassing the woman in an attempt to make her take down the video.
She refused, saying the video was important to share as a message about the frequent harassment women face in public. Many internet users were outraged by what the Los Angeles woman had endured. One user commented, “This guy needs to be made an example of. What a piece of s***.” Others urged her to document any contact from the man’s family. One person wrote, “That could possibly be witness intimidation. Please stay safe, love.”
Many commenters supported the Los Angeles woman’s actions, encouraging her to stay safe and continue posting updates about the situation. They agreed that the man did not deserve privacy after what he had done, and that keeping the video online was not wrong.
