Bored Elden Ring Player Invents Absurd Challenge to Keep Busy Ahead of DLC Release

Unstoppable force meets immovable object.

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is still several months away from its June 20, 2024 release date. Consequently, a sizable chunk of the community is now resorting to some of the most absurd challenges in Elden Ring, not the least of which is the newly discovered Mausoleum pushing. It’s one of the most challenging ways to expend your excess Elden Ring energy, whether it’s from ‘maidenlessness’ or the restlessness of waiting.

Turns Out You Can Push Mausoleums With Rejection

The fad and what might eventually become a fresh streamer challenge run for the Elden Ring community came to light thanks to Reddit user u/Silvertongued99. They posted a video demonstration of the Rejection Incantation’s secret strength: the ability to push giant Walking Mausoleums.

Of course, this wasn’t Rejection’s ideal usage. The Incantation’s intent is more suited for the situational displacement of regular-sized enemies, especially those near ledges. But as Reddit user u/Silvertongued99 revealed, Rejection is punching (or pushing) way above its weight class.

Currently, there are no other known ways to consistently push the Walking Mausoleum behemoths other than Rejection.

Rejecting Mausoleums as Far as You Can is the New Elden Ring Sport

In its collective boredom over the wait for Shadow of the Erdtree, the Elden Ring community has more or less unanimously agreed that Mausoleum pushing or rejection is now its new goal.

One of the aforementioned post’s most upvoted comments is a humorous call-to-action; a new community goal to push Walking Mausoleums as far as possible with the deadline being Shadow of the Erdtree‘s release date. And wouldn’t you know it, it has already begun.

Reddit user u/AlchemyAddiction has already tested the limits of Rejection on the Walking Mausoleums. He even managed to get one as far as the edges of the beach in the Weeping Peninsula.

This was the farthest I could get a mausoleum using Rejection

Sadly, the Walking Mausoleums will reset to their original position if you rest at a Site of Grace. That makes the pushing ‘goal’ harder than it should be. Enemies can attack the players while they’re pushing the Walking Mausoleums.

However, this is Elden Ring. People have attempted challenges far more Herculean such as deathless runs, hitless naked runs, or even dance pad controller runs. It might not be entirely outlandish to assume someone is already plotting how to get those Walking Mausoleums over bridges or gates, all the way to the Consecrated Snowfields.

And who knows, maybe the pet Mausoleums are even strong enough against certain field bosses. Will an Elden Lord please rise to the challenge?
