The Hollywood veteran recently made headlines after a French woman filed a complaint over their fake relationship. 53-year-old Anne got scammed by the actor’s impersonator, who shared artificially generated pictures of Pitt to woo her.
The scam started in 2023 via Facebook, with the culprit initially pretending to be Pitt’s mom. A month after catching Anne’s attention, the poser contacted her as Pitt, leading to a fake online relationship. The victim, married to a millionaire then, received multiple proposals and pleas from the scammer to leave her husband.
Anne eventually complied, divorcing her millionaire beau for the fake Pitt despite numerous red flags. One of the most prominent signs was the scammer’s refusal to talk to her over the phone. Instead, the culprit texted, claiming he was “too busy” to call. The impersonator moved in for the kill by pushing for Anne’s divorce settlement.
The fake movie star scammed Anne out of $850K, claiming he needed the massive sum for cancer treatment. He fooled her into sending the money with more artificially generated images of Pitt in a hospital. In one picture, the deepfake actor held a card that read, “Anne, I love you.”
As for why the French woman fell for the con, the imposter had a convincing tale. He claimed his money was tied up in his divorce from Angelina Jolie and could not use it freely. Anne eventually realized she had been duped when she saw a picture of the real Pitt. He was out with his girlfriend, Ines de Ramon, a wake-up call that left the victim heartbroken, per TMZ.
