It’s always a great feeling to welcome somebody close to you home when they’ve been away for some time. I’m sure we’ve all seen instances of children and spouses waiting for their loved ones to return home after many years overseas in the military. And it always feels good to share that joy with them! One grandson played the ultimate heartwarming prank on his grandparents in California after being away for two years. The internet fell in love with these adorable grandparents as a result!

Posted by Annalise Ryan (@annaliseryan9 on TikTok) on TikTok, captioned, “POV: Your brother comes back from military after being away for 2 years disguised as an Amazon guy to surprise our grandparents.” In the video, we see the disguised grandson standing at their door in a “work uniform” and a mask so they can’t see his entire face. He tells them to “sign right here” and hands his grandfather a box. Not at all suspicious!

The family sitting around says, “Sign it” and they prompt the grandmother to get up and sign for the package. Not knowing what’s going on, she signs the slip in her grandson’s hands, still unaware. After she signs it, her grandson says, “Can I use your restroom to take a dump?” to which she asks, “You mean it?” and tells him that he can come inside as long as he takes his shoes off.

When her grandson disappears down the hallway, she says, “He looks like Antony” (referring to her grandson.) Antony comes back out and she points to her family and says, proudly, “This is all my grandkids visiting me.“ The family even goes as far as to ask him if she wants chicken soup and invites him in to eat. Grandma is none the wiser and thinks she’s just feeding the “Amazon Guy.” Adorable!

By the time grandma comes back into the room, Antony has taken off his mask. She does a double-take in his direction and flings her hands up in the air in excitement. She then falls to the floor, realizing her grandson is home! The whole family is sharing in the joy and laughing with grandma, who is clearly so moved by sharing the same room as the grandson she’s been missing.

Viewers (including me) felt an incredible sense of happiness watching this close-knit family bring so much joy to their grandparents. One person commented on the sweet interaction, “I’m literally sobbing and laughing at the same time.” Another hilariously quipped, “After this is over ya’ll need to sit granny down and talk to her about stranger danger.” Another person suggested what we were all thinking: “Protect her at all costs.”

This prank turned into the most wholesome gesture and was definitely something we all needed in our life. It just goes to show the love of a grandparent is forever. And they will always be so ecstatic to be visited by a loved one!
