If you’re scrolling through social media or watching the news, you know ICE is out in full-force throughout California. Reports and video footage reveal ICE just arresting people with no prior convictions. The political climate is getting terrifying and people are fed up with it. In a recent TikTok video, a California woman explains how a recent event involving a civilian and ICE opens up more fears for those living in the state. Apparently, we have to worry about stray bullets when we walk the streets now.

TikToker Mossy Matriarch—or Sarah—shared a video of her thoughts on a recent event involving ICE agents chasing a suspect. She said a man was approached by a bunch of men in masks in San Bernardino, trying to coax him into coming with them. The man suspected it was a kidnapping, so he got in his vehicle and attempted to leave. The masked men then opened fire, hitting his vehicle three times. Sarah said the man ran off because he feared for his life, which led to injuries in several officers.

When he got to his house, he called law enforcement to tell them what happened. ICE was able to track him down to his home, where his home was surrounded. His family was still inside the house. Neighbors came and surrounded the house in support. Keep in mind, the man had no prior criminal record. Sarah said they saw him crossing the street and “profiled him, I guess.”

In the end, ICE agents told homeland security he assaulted some officers as he tried to flee the scene. He was taken into custody but has since been freed since they couldn’t charge him with anything. Sarah then reiterates ICE is starting to fire at people without a second thought.

“I told people it was coming a year ago… ‘No, that will never happen…’” one commenter replied. Another person said, “Let’s stop legitimizing them with the title ‘officers.’ They’re not-sees, kidnappers, masked unprovoked aggressors. Let’s come up with a label for them to take into the history books.”

The most terrifying consequence is being at the wrong place at the wrong time. People shouldn’t have to worry about catching stray bullets just because a trigger-happy ICE agent “suspects” a person for merely existing. One commenter explained it perfectly: “ICE agents aren’t nearly afraid enough.” There should be consequences for their overzealousness.
