During the past years, it’s become a sort of tradition to see Call of Duty games getting leaked months ahead of the official reveal. We even had Black Ops Cold War rumors during the first seasons of MW 2019. However this time, Call of Duty 2025 leaks are here even before Black Ops 6‘s release. Rumors suggest a Black Ops 2 sequel plot, with some gameplay features to dive into.
It was months ago that a leak about some of the upcoming Call of Duty games was found, focusing on next year’s annual releases of the franchise. Among the names were Ghosts 2, an Advanced Warfare sequel, and Call of Duty 2025 as a direct follow-up to the Black Ops 2. Now a week away from Black Ops 6‘s release, this rumor’s fire is once again fueled by another leak, detailing the plot.
Call of Duty 2025 is confirmed to be a Black Ops 2 sequel by the industry’s famous insider, Tom Henderson. And now a leaker going by the name of ForwardLeaks has posted new information on X about this upcoming title, which partly corroborates Henderson’s aforementioned information. Interestingly, its name internally is allegedly Project Saturn.
Accordingly, the game is set in 2035, almost 10 years after the events of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and prior to Black Ops 4‘s setting in the 2040s. David Mason is said to be the main character of this game, returning for more action. However, the year 2035 is sort of a big deal, as we know from Black Ops 4 that Savannah and Jessica Mason, David’s daughters, are making pivotal decisions at that time.
Not much is revealed about the story, but it is assumed that this game would feature a remastered version of classic Black Ops 2 Multiplayer maps, which is a sort of MW3 treatment as we might even see a carryforward plan for Black Ops 6 items going to Call of Duty 2025. Now this could lead to the $70 DLC type of controversy again, but we’ll have to wait and see.
Another thing about the Call of Duty 2025 Black Ops game is the leak about Zombies. Specifically, the co-op experience of Black Ops titles returns for another run in 2025, and it will remain round-based with rumors suggesting that Grief, an 8-player 4v4 Zombies mode will return for this title. Grief was only available in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Zombies, where two groups of players have to survive the undead on the same map for longer.
At the end of the day, please take all these rumors and leaks with a grain of salt, as almost everything is subject to change a year prior to the game’s release. However, after all these years, we know so well that most Call of Duty leaks do come true.
