In Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, there are several side missions you can tackle which change depending on your actions. Whether you find evidence out on the game’s main missions can mean the difference between neutralizing a leader and dismantling an operation. As such, you’ll likely want to try and figure out these extra steps before tackling the side missions. One of the missions requires you to decode a floppy disk, which can be quite hard due to some of the evidence. As such, this guide will explain just how to decode the floppy disk in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

How to Decrypt the Floppy Disk in Cold War

Now before you begin, I advise collecting all the evidence you can. You can do so by thoroughly exploring as much of each mission as possible. If done correctly, you’ll have every piece of evidence by the time you complete the mission Redlight Greenlight in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Once you have all the evidence, try to complete the puzzle and return here if you’re still stuck. As for those of you that are in that position, here’s how you can solve the puzzle for yourself.

Firstly, you’ll want to check the newspaper above. Thankfully, the main character Bell has the ability to solve these puzzles with ease. As such, there will be red letters you’ll need to arrange into a word. In my case, that word is Madison, but that will change depending on your newspaper.

For whatever letters you’ll find, they’ll correspond to a name on the numbers broadcast along with a set of numbers. Keep these numbers in mind, as it’s the code you need to decode the floppy disk. The code in my copy of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is 9841.

From there, head to the piece of paper that needs deciphering. Thanks to Bell’s skills, many of these numbers are decoded for you. There are still two that need deciphering. You’ll need to look for a pattern within that set of numbers. For me, the red numbers kept going up and increasing the jump by 1 each time. The blue numbers just went up by three. As such, my numbers were 18 and 64. This will once again change for you, so try to look for a pattern that can give you the answer.

Once you have that, look back at the numbers broadcast and correlate your two numbers with the word. In my case it’s Raleigh, which is the passphrase. Once you have all this, decrypt Cold War’s floppy disk using the code acquired from earlier along with the word as the passphrase. In my case, my code is the aforementioned 9841 and the passphrase is Raleigh. When you input both of your answers and Authenticate, you will have solved the floppy disk puzzle. Now you can continue with the mission.

If this guide helped you solve the broadcast, be sure to let me know in the comments below. As well, share it with others so they can easily solve the numbers broadcasts as well. Good luck out there, CIA agents!
