When you think of babies, you probably imagine a tiny human whose main jobs are eating, sleeping, and occasionally giggling. But 19-month-old Callum from California isn’t interested in following the usual baby routine. He wants to stand out. Despite his age, Callum has picked up an unexpected skill in drumming. The drum set was originally a gift from Cassie Ivazes to her husband. On a whim, they placed their son in the drummer’s seat. To their surprise, Callum didn’t just bang on the drums. He played with rhythm and surprising talent.
The event took place at Christmas when Callum was just 14 months old. Now, five months later, the baby’s drumming skills have only improved. His father mentioned that somehow, his son seemed to understand the instrument and picked up the skill with remarkable ease. The California couple even claims that their son showed an inclination to be a drummer from the moment he was just two days old. According to them, the baby would often move his hands as if waving around imaginary drumsticks.
Perhaps it’s in the genes, as both Cassie and Wesley are musicians. The couple even met through music, with Wesley first encountering Cassie while producing her music. They’ve always known that music would be a constant in their lives, but neither of them expected their son to be this naturally talented.
Recognizing Callum’s incredible talent, the California couple decided to share his gift with the world by creating a TikTok account just for him. The account, named callumdrums, has since gained over 200,000 followers and more than 22 million likes. Many TikTok users were left in awe of the young boy’s skills. “How is that even possible 😭😭😭😭,” one user commented.
Some even joked that Callum’s future as a musician is already set in stone. “When he becomes a drummer for a famous band, people better know that some of us have been supporting him since he was in diapers 😔,” another TikTok user commented.
However, some users expressed concern about the potential impact on Callum’s hearing, fearing that the drum sounds could be damaging. They urged the parents to provide ear protection for safety. “GET HIS EARS PROTECTED, DAD!” one user implored. Another user shared a personal warning, recounting their own experience: “Get those headphones on him now! My drummer brother just lost his hearing in one ear.”
Some parents in the comments jokingly lamented that their own children weren’t displaying this level of talent at such a young age. One user humorously remarked, “And my 1.5-year-old is chewing on my phone while I watch this 🤣.”
