Can Monsters Hear You in Lethal Company? Answered

They don’t need to hear to know how you taste…

This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

The monstrous beasts of Lethal Company don’t mess around when prey wanders into their territory or personal lair. Some don’t even bother waiting for your arrival, such as Ghost Girls or Eyeless Dogs that will proactively hunt you down instead. However, it’s hard not to wonder if you might have avoided certain death if you were crouch-sneaking or quieter with your friends on voice chat. Such a notion begs whether Lethal Company‘s monsters can hear your voice or movements or whether their behavior is based on RNG and scripted mechanics.

Do Lethal Company Monsters Hear Player Voice Chat?

Let’s first discuss the elephant in the room โ€” or should we say, the “Eyeless Dog” in the room. The answer is yes, Eyeless Dogs do hear player voice chat and react accordingly by devouring whoever aggroed its sense of hearing. However, the giant monster canine is the only beast in Lethal Company capable of becoming hostile based on noise at this current time of Early Access.

On the other hand, you can shout and scream all you want at a Snare Flea. I’ve personally tried yelling at the bugger on the ceiling, but still only made a move when I stood under its position. The same goes for other monsters in Lethal Company; they won’t hear or react to voice chat as the Eyeless Dog would. On the other hand, you still should be wary that movement, not sound, still attracts other hostile and territorial creatures, like the sandworm-like Earth Leviathan, the Forest Keeper, or the Baboon Hawk.

Other gameplay mechanics, such as walking and running versus crouching or the absurdly loud moans of opening doors โ€” Lethal Company monsters could care less. The only time you should be concerned about being too loud is when you’re confident an Eyeless Dog is present on your Moon. Otherwise, there’s no shame in screaming your lungs out when a Bracken jumpscares you around a one-way corridor’s corner.
