Candace Owens, often dubbed an unapologetic antisemite, ticked off the wrong folks with her latest Holocaust claims deemed pro-Nazi. The 35-year-old took a swipe at the Jews in a recent episode of her show, Candace, claiming some of the infamous Holocaust atrocities never happened. She also dismissed historical war crimes like Josef Mengele’s twin experiments as bizarre propaganda. Her misguided denial of these horrific Holocaust events earned her massive backlash from netizens.

In a video excerpt from her Candace show shared on X, formerly Twitter, Candace Owens suggested that some of the Holocaust stories spotlighting the Nazi brutality sounded absurd. She questioned the idea of “cutting a human open and sewing them back up,” attempting to point out the loopholes. She added,

“Why would you do that? Literally even if you were the most evil person in the world, that’s a tremendous waste of time and supplies. Just slice a person open and sew them together. That just sounds like bizarre propaganda.”

Reacting to her misguided statements, several X users turned on Candace with bashful comments. Many of these comments tagged Candace Owens as a “vile antisemite,” a “bigot,” and a “Nazi supporter.” Her antisemitic rants also caught the attention of the civil rights advocacy group, Anti-Defamation League. The group, geared towards combating antisemitism, discrimination, and bigotry reacted to the commentator’s denial of the Holocaust atrocities, warning that it was “despicable and dangerous.”

Candace Owens’ Antisemitic Tropes Have Dangerous Repercussions

Speaking to Daily Mail, an Anti-Defamation League spokesperson pointed out that Candace Owen’s Holocaust denial shows her “increasing embrace of antisemitic tropes.”

The spokesperson set the record straight on some Holocaust events, particularly the Mengele experiments. According to them, these experiments were “heavily documented,” and photographed, making it unlikely that they were mere propaganda. Additionally, some victims of these inhumane treatments lived to tell the tale.

Having Candace Owens continually question the Nazi atrocities, while minimizing the evil nature of Hitler’s regime had dire repercussions. Human rights and national security lawyer Irina Tsukerman condemned the controversial star’s antics, saying,

“Owens’ comments are dangerous because they feed into Holocaust denial, minimize Nazi crimes against humanity, dehumanize and defame Jews, and support the spread of hateful conspiracy theories. However, they are also likely the product of state propaganda.’

The lawyer, who believes Candace’s comments aimed to normalize and mainstream antisemitism and pro-Nazi agenda, discouraged people from giving her an audience. Irina explained how the commentator’s “major following” offers her a platform to seamlessly radicalize her base and promote her antisemitic agenda.

Like Irina Tsukerman, many netizens believe Candace’s pro-Nazi statements signify the lowest she or anyone could possibly descend. Expectedly, she continues receiving online hate for her antisemitic, historically inaccurate remarks. Yet, many netizens believe the star simply made her controversial tropes to increase the visibility of her platform and stay relevant, whether or not she believes them.
