This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

Speaking to several gaming outlets, including YouTubers, Capcom has finally confirmed that the Monster Hunter Rise PC port will be released in early 2022. The company has also updated the official website, mentioning that details for the Steam version will be revealed at a later date.

Monster Hunter series producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said to IGN that thanks to overwhelming fans’ requests, especially “overseas fans,” he and his team decided to release Monster Hunter Rise for PC as well. He also added that the success of Monster Hunter: World also influenced the company’s decision to go through with that idea. As I’m writing this article, Monster Hunter: World has sold 16.8 million copies, and Iceborne has topped 7.2 million sales worldwide.

“We received a lot of requests for a PC version of Monster Hunter Rise, particularly from overseas players, and so we have decided to develop a version for PC, which we aim to release in early 2022. This is still under development, so I’d like to share more detailed information when the time is right.”

Previously I have reported that the Monster Hunter Rise PC port is coming in October this year, according to a data leak. As we can see, that’s not the case. So why is there a more than three months difference between the leaked information and today’s non-formal announcement? It turns out, after tracking down one of the leaked documents that Capcom has been DMCA-ing for the last few months (again), I think I understand why there are discrepancies. By taking Nintendo’s exclusivity deal, Capcom was supposed to announce Monster Hunter Rise PC port between three to six months after the initial launch of the Switch version this March, depending on how much money they take. And then, nine months after the Switch version launched, the game is then planned to be released on PC.

Nevertheless, as I mentioned before, the leak doesn’t contain the most up-to-date data regarding Capcom’s internal planning. Things can always change, and some stuff may no longer be true anymore. Not to mention that the leak itself could affect the company’s future plans as well. Monster Hunter Rise will launch on March 26, 2021, on Switch, along with a handful of limited edition bundles. Let’s hope it will have cross-play or even just cross-save support between versions. Stay tuned for more Monster Hunter and Capcom news.
