Carrie Underwood is taking a lot of heat online after it was announced that she would perform at the second Presidential inauguration of Donald Trump next week. The American Idol alum revealed the news with an excited statement. However, fans were immediately divided by the announcement. While some praised the country music star for doing what she thought was right, others promised to boycott her altogether due to her affiliation with Trump. Now, she’s being accused of becoming a poor role model for young girls.

According to The Mirror, Carrie Underwood returned to social media this week. This comes just days after the heated debate about her upcoming performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration. The singer didn’t mention the event. Instead, she shared an Instagram story of herself with fellow musician Cody Johnson in the studio. Underwood went on to promote a behind-the-scenes YouTube video about the making of her and Johnson’s hit song, I’m Gonna Love You.

However, some fans weren’t done talking about her inauguration decision. After Carrie broke her social media silence, fans continued to speak out in criticism of the chart-topping star. One fan in particular claimed that Underwood sets a bad example for the nation’s youth by supporting Trump on his big day.

“Support for a convicted felon whoโ€™s a sexual predator and fraud. What message is that for little girls. I wonโ€™t watch ‘your small part in history’. Itโ€™s not historical, itโ€™s shameful,” one person wrote via X.

“Very disappointed in Carrie Underwood,” another wrote.

“As a woman and a mom, Iโ€™m horrified that she would even consider singing at the inauguration,” a third comment read.

Carrie is scheduled to perform America The Beautiful along with The Armed Forces Chorus and The United States Navel Academy Glee Club. She’ll sing just after Trump takes his presidential oath for the second time. She’ll join Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, and others at the event.

Meanwhile, the controversy surrounding Underwood’s inauguration performance has allegedly bled over to her judging job at American Idol. It was previously reported that execs at the show weren’t happy about the singer supporting Trump. They’re not worried that it may cause a ratings dip if fans decide to boycott the upcoming season of the show. There’s also talk that the other stars, Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie, and Ryan Seacrest, may be upset by the situation.

However, Carrie’s job at the reality singing competition series is secure for now. Sources claim that there are currently no talks of axing her from the show. Instead, they’ll keep a close eye on any changes that may be a result of her political statement.

Carrie Underwood currently seems unphased by the backlash that she’s received due to her upcoming performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration. While she’s taken a lot of criticism for it, she’s also earned a lot of compliments from MAGA supporters and her loyal fans.
