Various CD Projekt Red fans around the world are waiting in anticipation for any more news concerning the developer’s upcoming project, The Witcher 4. The third entry to the franchise was a massive success, propelling the developer forward like never before. So, it makes sense that there are people out there trying to scam fans into entering their information in hopes of a beta code for the aforementioned title.

Unfortunately, there aren’t any beta codes to give out, and CD Projekt Red has officially come forward to say so. In a recent post on X, the developer issued a warning to fans about fraudulent beta invitations for The Witcher 4. The post emphasized that they have not announced a beta testing phase and haven’t formally sent out any invitations.

Recently, we've been getting reports from some community members that they've been invited to a beta test of The Witcher 4 — this is a scam! 🚨

We've been taking the necessary steps to take this fraudulent messaging down. That said, if you receive any invites to or stumble… pic.twitter.com/nVmHnDSH2M

I’m sure that many fans are devastated that the most recent bit of news about the latest The Witcher installment is fake. However, I’m sure they’d rather be disappointed than have their information stolen. The incident highlights the importance of cybersecurity awareness within the gaming community, and I am glad that CD Projekt Red decided to say something rather than keep quiet.

“Remember: professional monster slayers don’t fall for scams; they see right through them and slay them!”

The Witcher 4 was officially revealed as the franchise’s next installment in 2022. As of 2024, CD Projekt Red announced that the game was moving forward as their most aggressively worked-on project at the moment. The game is expected to follow after the events of The Witcher 3, instead leading players through Ciri’s shoes.

Fans who are looking forward to real news from CD Projekt Red should follow their official communication channels. The post also states that interested fans who follow them will always be the first to know about any important information, such as beta invitations. Any other third-party channels discussing news about games from the developer should be considered fake.
