Back when the Sussexes got married, the two were “riding on the moment,” with the support of A-listers and other big names at their side. “Harry and Meghan were the most popular couple in the country at one time, but there’s since been a decline,” according to Paul Burrell, the late Princess Diana’s butler.
Per The Sun, Paul Burrell states that the Duke and Duchess’ circle of influence and support is becoming increasingly “smaller and smaller” at a fast rate. The ex-royals bought their multi-million-dollar mansion in California to become ‘buddy-buddy’ with all the famous celebs living there. While there was some interest in Harry and Meghan at the start, American stars began to realize that the working royal family was the “main event,” and the Sussexes were nothing more than a mere “sideshow” — a show that now vey few want to be a part of.
“The A-list stars are dropping like flies. Some already have done — Oprah no longer seems involved with them, and some other celebrities have also dropped them.”

Big names, such as Katy Perry and George Clooney, declined to invite and even snubbed event invitations for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Not to mention, David and Victoria Beckham were “absolutely furious” with the whole situation involving false rumors of defamation and the Sussexes completely ignoring their efforts to travel to and support the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney. It makes one wonder, for such “a massive cost” in Harry and Meghan’s finances and royal standing, whether moving to the US was really worth it.
The Sun goes on to report that the respected royal author Phil Dampier is under the impression that Prince Harry is “dependent on Meghan for his social life,” and that alone surely “takes its toll.” In other words, it was likely the Duchess of Sussex’s doing to have Harry try his best to “move in celebrity circles and make friends with the rich and famous.” However, now, he’s “lost his family, his royal status, military connections, and a lot of friends.”
Even those Prince Harry “used to play polo with in England no longer communicate with him.” But most tragic of all — beyond losing the support of American A-listers — was the falling out with Harry’s “best friend,” Prince William. According to Dampier, William was the “one person who could really understand him and what he has been through.”
