The It Ends With Us drama continues with Colleen Hoover returning to Instagram with a shocking bang! The author of the hit 2016 novel, adapted into the 2024 movie, did some major page cleaning. She deleted all posts featuring the film’s controversial stars, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
The co-stars have been making waves since 2024 during the movie’s promotion train. Fans noticed they weren’t doing press together before Lively shocked the world with sexual harassment and other scathing allegations. Baldoni has vehemently denied her claims and countersued with a $400 million defamation lawsuit. Meanwhile, Hoover seemed to play the field.
After seemingly supporting Lively, the author went on a three-week social media hiatus before returning on Wednesday. However, she may have changed her mind about butting into the drama, given her removal of the duo’s pictures. Page Six reported that she kept a few early casting announcements and a post dedicated to fans; however, many were unimpressed. These critics did not mince their words against Hoover for choosing Lively’s side and then doing a 180 with her cleanup. An X user who believed Hoover was “a joke in the writing community,” penned:
“I will never believe that Colleen Hoover was not a part of this. She is that girl that tries too hard to fit in with the ‘cool kids.’ She is not innocent.”
Another echoed similar sentiments, writing, “Colleen Hoover scrubbing Blake Lively pics off her IG only now because she’s accepted Regina George is neither cool OR inviting her to the cool kids’ table (or making the sequel;) Nasty. Gross.” A third implied the author tried to get into Hollywood’s elite classes through Lively and betrayed Baldoni for fame.
Fellow Author Slams Colleen Hoover for Choosing Sides in the ‘It Ends With Us’ Drama
Fans were not the only ones disappointed in Hoover, and fellow author Lady Colin Campbell condemned her actions. The British Jamaican socialite penned a lengthy message about the situation, slamming Hoover for betraying Baldoni. She stressed that the actor had believed in her book and tried to turn it into a great movie.
Campbell noted Hoover owed Baldoni an apology and should release a statement to right the wrong she helped create. The Diana, Princess of Wales author implored the latter to “woman up” and offer her services to Baldoni’s legal team. Additionally, she implied that if Hoover refused to release a statement, it would spearhead her fall from grace. In Campbell’s words:
“You have a choice. Do the right thing now, or sink along with your reputation and career. Which is it going to be?”
Campbell’s message referenced Hoover’s support for Lively after her scathing allegations against Baldoni dropped last December. We covered the drama, reporting that she had penned a touching statement about the actress’s fantastic character. The author shared the message on her Instagram Story with a picture of the duo at a screening event.
In her statement, Hoover thanked Lively for being a great person, hailing her as “honest, kind, supportive and patient.” She implored her to “never change” and dropped a link to an article detailing the actress’s claims against Baldoni.
Will Colleen Hoover apologize to Justin Baldoni, or will she remain silent?
