Control On GamePass
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information.

One year after rumors of Control landing on Xbox GamePass the service is teasing its arrival.

Or at least, followers of its official account believe that’s what is being teased. It’s official Twitter account posted a supposed picture of a letter from “Melissa McGamePass.”

The letter is made to look like a message to the Xbox team. The fictional executive started by touting all the things that came to the platform in November.

The note goes on to say they “aren’t slowing down” in December. There’s the announcement that EA Play is moving from console only to PC on Xbox GamePass. It also says there are a ton of games coming to the platform next month.

Honestly we have no idea what gif or sinister red light Melissa is referring to pic.twitter.com/QaOK7jZNkM

It’s one game’s name that has a red “Redacted” label over it that has people thinking Control is one of those games. There’s also the mention of a title that fans won’t stop talking about. “She” also mentions a gif she sent around to employees that featured a red light.

Control Misdirect

The letter ends by saying that everyone needs to keep the information confidential. However, the official Twitter account posted it anyway. The account also claimed it didn’t know what the letter was referring to.

Its denials did not convince followers of the account.

One of the first responses to the tweet made it clear they knew exactly what was being hinted at in the message.

“Great, I just paid for Control yesterday and now you put it into GamePass. I wish you would stop putting games in sales the month before adding to GamePass,” they wrote.

Others were quick to chime in that they also believed they’d solved the riddle. While Microsoft didn’t obviously didn’t confirm what’s coming, this tactic is nothing new. The Xbox GamePass account tends to tease new games like this often.

As far as just when Control is going to land on the platform? We’ll likely get that info soon.
