Controller Aim Assist In Black Ops 6 Warzone Tracks Without Having To Use The Right Stick

I thought I’d improved my aim for a while

The debate on aim assist in Call of Duty has been going on in the community for many years now and Black Ops 6 seemed to have settled the argument at launch. However, there’s been a change to how this mechanism works with DualSense and Xbox controllers in the game, making the aim assist a bit stronger in the Black Ops 6 iteration of Warzone since the Season 2 Reloaded update.

Ever since the Black Ops 6 beta Multiplayer test, the aim assist had been nerfed to the ground compared to how it used to work in MW2 and MW3. The aim didn’t track the opponent at all with the only help for controller players being the softer aim near the target instead of locking onto them. However, it seems like it’s been revised recently. Check it:

With no related lines in the patch notes, it appears to be a secret buff to the aim assist in Black Ops 6 and Warzone, allowing players to track the target without using the right analog stick. The video above shows how the tracking AA works, and it’s super OP the way it’s presented in this clip. That made me doubt my aim and go test this out myself, and here’s the result that you can also check for yourselves in the firing range.

First and foremost, you won’t get the tracking aim assist at all in the nearby targets in Black Ops 6 Multiplayer and Warzone. The first dummy in the firing range doesn’t trigger any sort of track motion when you aim at it and move using the left analog stick only. These results are the same both on the console and PC.

On the other hand, if you aim at the second target that’s like, 25 meters away, the aim does track. It consistently locks no the enemy opponent, making it super easy to laser beam the enemy with a slight grip on the gun’s recoil. The same can’t be said about the target on the 75-meter range, but it’s safe to assume that the tracking controller’s aim assist in Black Ops 6 and Warzone starts at around 20 meters ranging up to 50 meters.

That’s why sometimes the enemies are able to decimate you in a matter of seconds somewhere at these ranges because their aim really does lock in automatically playing with a controller. I’ve also sensed a bit stronger aim assist while playing with a DualSense input on PC in comparison to my Xbox Series S controller, but I think it’s because I’m used to the PS buttons more, so it’s better if you test it before confirming anything.
