The aggressor, who one commenter described as a “psycho,” blocks the person filming and slows down dangerously, causing another car to veer onto the shoulder. Driving is a dangerous activity. So it always amazes me how some aggressive people actively make it more dangerous through road rage. There’s no excusing the crazy display of road rage, but I should point out that it wasn’t without reason. The OP was clearly using the left lane on a largely empty road, when he should have probably moved over earlier. That said, the aggressor’s response is wildly inappropriate for such a relatively minor offence.
First, the road rage car undertakes the person filming. It then slows down dangerously as the OP moves over, braking erratically to the point where the person filming almost collides with the other car. As a result of the dangerous driving, another vehicle is forced onto the shoulder, swerving dangerously around the hold up.
As the person filming merges onto 64 East, the aggressive car continues to block the OP. Finally, in a bizarre conclusion, the road rage car throws a bag full of litter out of the driver window toward the person filming. Finally, the aggressive driver then pulls away.
Although a number of Redditors pointed out the OP’s mistake, many condemned the road rage driver’s dangerous behavior. “That is so psycho,” one commenter said. Others urged the OP to send the footage to the police for the “unacceptable driving behavior.” Another user listed the potential felonies: “Reckless driving, throwing projectiles from a vehicle, littering, might even get reckless endangerment.”
In reality, though, it’s hard to imagine the police following up on the incident, as alarming as it is. Although the person filming arguably was driving in the wrong lane at first, he acted sensibly by not escalating the situation. The only way to deal with such road rage is to take defensive action. Thankfully, the ridiculous display of road rage didn’t cause any accident or injuries.
