All Work No Play aired its final episode of the first season. While nothing was set in stone, it was heavily implied fans can look forward to a second season! The last few months have brought laughs and bonding as a show six years in the making finally came to life.

All Work No Play

Creators Sam Riegel and Liam O’Brien originally began All Work No Play years ago as a podcast. With only a few episodes that were many months in between, it never came to completion. But word spread of the podcast via the Critical Role platform. Critical Role is a weekly live stream of Dungeons and Dragons played by famous voice actors and mastered over by Matthew Mercer. Riegel and O’Brien both joked about their podcast extensively on the show, and fans demanded to see it brought back.

All Work No Play

It wasn’t until the cast of Critical Role moved into their own studio and took full creative control of their product that the fans’ patience paid off. Instead of a podcast, Riegel and O’Brien did a video format that ran for about 30 minutes each episode. It would begin with them chatting about their lives and end with shenanigans. Throughout this first season, viewers were amused by the two actors as they learned how to tap dance, participated in goat yoga, created a short monster movie, learned how to fire spin, and many more. One or two guests accompanied them each episode, including own Travis Willingham and Marisha Ray from Critical Role.

The final episode brought all the guests back together to reminisce about the fun had throughout the season, and to pitch ideas for the next. In the comfort of a California hot tub under the stars, sharing cocktails made by Talks Machina host Brian W. Foster, these actors let their creativity flow. Some of the ideas were to go through a haunted house, bungee jump, and swim with otters. Whether or not any of these ideas make it to the second season remains to be seen.

All Work No Play

As All Work No Play takes a break between seasons, fans will miss seeing them every Friday very dearly.
