Valve‘s top performer has always been the #1 contender on Steam, even if games like Call of Duty steal the show for a couple of weeks. Meanwhile, CS2 has reached a new record on Steam, passing its own 24-hour peak player count and closing up on Counter-Strike‘s record of concurrent peak players in history.
CS2 24-hour peak player on Steam DB reached 1,744,015 on February 16, 2025. This is a record you won’t see every day, and CS2 has not been able to reach this number since its release. It’s not a random coincidence, however, as tournaments like BLAST have direct effects on these numbers as they’ve had before.
Two years ago on May 2023, the final CS: GO Major generated a record that Counter-Strike had never seen before. We’re talking about 1,818,773 concurrent players in only 24 hours. This is the current record that Counter-Strike holds, and CS2 only lacks 74,758 more players to reach this milestone.
CS2 has set an average player count of around 900,000 in the past couple of months, meaning that it really does have the potential to break the all-time peak players record. Not to mention that the current BLAST Pro Series has started from January 13 and it ends on January 26, giving CS2 the chance to grab all the attention it can get.
CS2 has had the lowest average players upon release in September 2023, reaching around 700,000 until March 2024. The all-time record for the average players count, however, is 958,207.3 from May 2024. That said, the current last 30-day average peak players for CS2 sits at 947,769.3, which means that it’s likely that this milestone may also be ticked by the end of February this year.
