The ever-evolving world of Cyberpunk 2077 just got a whole lot more exciting for PC gamers. The release of the Phantom Liberty DLC has not only brought new adventures and stories to Night City, but as expected, the modding community has already gotten to work. Mods changed the initial Cyberpunk 2077 experience considerably, and although it was expected to take some time, it seems modders have already figured out how to get some of the most important mods working well.

Modding has been an integral part of the Cyberpunk 2077 experience since its launch. Players have been able to enhance graphics, tweak gameplay mechanics, and even introduce entirely new content thanks to the dedicated modding community. However, CD Projekt Red announced that mods will not be working with both the 2.0 update and Phantom Liberty to start.

Cyberpunk 2077 Mods Now Work in Phantom Liberty

Attention all Steam and Epic players!

We wanted to let you know that mods will be automatically disabled for the launch of #PhantomLiberty. This is to prevent issues with the game that are caused by mods before they receive their update from the modding community. We want to…

The Phantom Liberty DLC changes the game in more ways than one. Not only does it introduce fresh storylines and characters, but it also brings significant updates to the game’s core mechanics, so it’s understandable that mods made for the previous version of the game wouldn’t work.

While gameplay mods aren’t yet up and running, there are several mods that do work with the new version of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. They are not the biggest game changers, but Cyber Engine Tweaks and the Script Extender RED4ext both work great with the new update and DLC, and this will ensure a smoother gameplay experience as well as access to the debug console.

The mods that will come once CD Projekt Red takes the shackles off their new release should be just as impressive as the mods released the first time around. While not as moddable as something like Starfield will be, tons of interesting mods have been created for Cyberpunk 2077 over the last three years, and that trend should continue here.
