Death Stranding is still yet a quite mysterious game, as Kojima Productions shares details in tiny, small, confused pieces. Though, at the San Diego Comic-Con, presented a new trailer that became public yesterday. The PS4 exclusive’s new trailer puts some light on one of the main characters in the game, Heartman. The footages, in fact, focus entirely on the character portrayed by filmmaker and Hideo Kojima‘s friend, Nicolas Winding Refn.

Heartman exists in a cycle where every 21 minutes his heart stops and he dies. He remains dead for three minutes, then returns to life by AED (automated external defibrillator). In the trailer, he says to have completed this cycle 218.550 times.

When he wakes up, Sam is there, and apparently, they were having a meeting, interrupted by Heartman’s temporarily death. While dead, Nicolas Winding Refn‘s character spends time in the world of the deads, researching the Death Stranding. This allows him to gain an understanding of the strange phenomenon, and that’s probably the reason for Sam’s visit.

The 21 minutes he has to live are spent on leisure. Heartman has a vast collection of books, movies, and music he uses to distract himself while waiting to go back. He also shares that basic human functions fit well in a 21 minutes window, once accustomed to it. Sleep and intimate relationships are tricky to include in the schedule, though, for the latter, he doesn’t need to worry much.

Death Stranding covers revealed at SDCC as well!

At SDCC, with the release of the Heartman trailer, Kojima Productions revealed the box art and special edition covers. Both the covers showcase a close up of Sam, the protagonist. In the standard edition, Sam is clean and equipped with his helmet. The special edition instead, shows him dirty and without pieces of the equipment.

Death Stranding is set to launch exclusively on PlayStation 4 on November 8th, 2019.
