Bungie may be working with NetEase to develop a mobile game, Destiny Mobile, according to the latest rumors about a project going on for two years. The game is under development in collaboration with the Chinese publisher NetEase. The LinkedIn post revealed that this collaboration has been going on for over two years and is related to the Destiny universe. It is rumored to be standalone and not be connected with Destiny 2.

Bungie and NetEase Might Be Working on Destiny Mobile

A NetEase employee’s LinkedIn post showed they collaborated with Bungie to create an “unannounced FPS mobile game.” According to a new report (thanks to The Game Post), Bungie’s undercover work with Chinese publisher NetEase includes a mobile shooter title in the Destiny universe. An unnamed insider acquainted with NetEase’s development strategies confirmed to The Game Post and informed them of the existence of the mobile game.

On the other hand, NetEase invested $100 million in Bungie in 2018, acquiring a minority stake in the company. A spokesperson for the company talked about “exploring new directions” and “building new worlds” during the investment. But it seems they want to keep following Bungie’s road with Destiny Mobile. In addition, Sony bought Bungie for $3.6 billion, which joined PlayStation Studios, saying it always aimed to maintain its independence. Sony Chief Jim Ryan stated the investment was “an important step in our strategy to expand the reach of PlayStation to a much wider audience.” So it wouldn’t be surprising if NetEase and Bungie bring the PlayStation-exclusive game to mobile.

The company is well-known for having a specialty in mobile games. As you might know, NetEase and Blizzard recently collaborated to release Diablo Immortal for PC and mobile devices. Nevertheless, the developer and Chinese publisher haven’t confirmed anything, so take it with a grain of salt. Please share your thoughts about the Destiny Mobile rumor in the comment section.
