Devs of the Best Soulslike Game Ever are Making a Sci-Fi Survival Horror Game Next

Something’s cooking, and it smells nice

When it comes to Soulslike games, only a select few were able to capture or match the same quality and spirit of the subgenre as FromSoftware. Among those, developer Neowiz (and subsidiary Round 8), with their Lies of P, is generally considered one of the best. Now, they’re expanding to other genres. They’re poised to take over sci-fi survival horror this time after the gap left behind by Dead Space.

Round 8, again a team within Neowiz, a Korean game dev studio, recently announced the report on a Korean website. According to the report, their next title after their success with Lies of P will be a sci-fi survival horror game. It will be released on the PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

They’re aiming for a wider audience, similar to Lies of P. However, right now, the unnamed sci-fi survival horror game is still in its early development cycle. So don’t expect any substantial reveal.

Apparently, it’s “too early to disclose the progress of the project,” according to a Neowiz representative. They did mention that the unnamed game is one of the several titles under Round 8’s scope.

It’s worth noting that the sci-fi horror genre is not exactly populated with its strongest titles being Dead Space (2008) and Alien: Isolation (2014). So there’s a lull in the genre that Neowiz seems primed to fill. Other upcoming contenders would be Alien: Isolation 2, which is still in early development.

Neowiz Isn’t Done Yet with Lies of P

Despite moving on to newer projects, Neowiz is not completely moving on from Lies of P. The studio has announced that their acclaimed Soulslike game will receive a DLC in the first quarter of 2025.

This announcement came after the DLC was leaked due to a Neowiz listing for open positions. There’s no definite or specific release day or month yet for this Lies of P DLC. Also, they didn’t reveal the DLC’s name yet.

Still, it’s a good way for Neowiz fans to kill time (and die repeatedly) while they wait for Neowiz’s upcoming sci-fi survival horror game.
