You’ll be watching a little girl take on people three times her size in Abigail, which was directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Ready Or Not, Scream VI). It stars Melissa Barrera (Scream VI), Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey), Kathryn Newton (Freaky), and Alisha Weir (Matilda: The Musical) as the titular character, Abigail. It follows a group of criminals who kidnap a young girl only to find she isn’t as helpless as they originally thought. Because it’s a horror film, you might be wondering if there’s anything after the credits setting up a sequel. So, let’s see if Abigail has a post-credits scene.
Is There a Post-Credits Scene In Abigail?
You can leave as soon as the credits begin because Abigail does not have a post-credits scene. However, just before the credits and right after the movie ends, it does feature a dedication to Angus Cloud who died in 2023 after filming. It’s his final performance. The Euphoria actor is great in the film, and his performance of the dumb but loveable character will be remembered.
So, once the credits roll there are no extra tidbits, stingers, or scenes. As it is a horror movie, if you wait until the very end you’ll hear Abigail’s laugh one final time, but that doesn’t really count as a post-credits scene. It didn’t need an extra scene, although it could’ve used a fun stinger. Every plot thread is wrapped up before the credits begin to roll. While a scene could have been used to set up an Abigail sequel, there’s an obvious path to a sequel already laid out in the movie. But, with the amount of blood every cast member gets covered in by the end, there’s no way that there wasn’t a healthy amount of footage for a good blooper reel.
Ultimately, Abigail does a great job of having a satisfying ending so any extra scenes might have ruined that experience. As for the possibility of a sequel, we’ll need to keep an eye out for how it does at the box office. The directors are no strangers to sequels, having directed two Scream movies. So, if it does well we could see some characters from the film come back for another outing.
