Although Black Myth: Wukong is not as hard as the Dark Souls series, this game is still quite challenging for many players. One could argue that it’s more similar to Sekiro due to its fast-paced combat. From limited resources to dangerous enemies, new players need to learn the combat quickly if they want to survive. While most people may be aware of what to expect when they pick up this game, others may still wish to change the difficulty settings to easy mode in Black Myth: Wukong.

Unfortunately, Black Myth: Wukong does not offer an easy mode as a difficulty setting. In fact, all players need to beat the game with the same level of challenge. You can maybe get a bit of an edge at the start of the game if you purchase the DLC items via the Deluxe Edition. However, you will unlock better gear not long after. The enemies in this section are also quite easy to defeat, and you can beat the bosses with basic gear.

The first real challenge where the game tests your combat skill is the Wandering Wight elite enemy. This monster has powerful attacks that can quickly take down your HP and a ton of HP. You will likely die several times before you can beat it.

Although Black Myth: Wukong won’t let you use an easy mode as a difficulty setting, there are some methods you can use to make the game easier. First, you need to prioritize upgrading your Health and Stamina. This will increase your survivability. Second, you can level up your Gourd to increase the amount of HP you recover. Unfortunately, this upgrade only becomes available after you beat the first major boss, Lingxuzi.

Lastly, you want to collect all gear you can find in the current area. Some of them can significantly reduce the difficulty of a boss fight. For instance, before you face Black Bear Guai at the end of Chapter 1, you can try to obtain the Fireproof Mantle gear by beating the secret boss. You can only unlock this optional fight once you ring the three big bells in the mountain area.
