Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) is crotchety in the new fantasy comedy, IF. Directed by John Krasinski (A Quiet Place), IF follows a girl named Bea, played by Cailey Fleming (The Walking Dead), as she discovers a couple of imaginary friends living on the top floor of her grandmother’s apartment building. Together, she and Cal (Reynolds) attempt to find the IFs a new home. As it is a childrenโs movie, you might be wondering if there’s anything after the credits that sets up a sequel. So, let’s see whether or not IF has a post-credits scene.ย
Is There a Post-Credits Scene in IF?
IF does not have a post-credits scene, but it does contain a brief montage at the end that dedicates the film to one of the actors, Louis Gossett Jr. (An Officer and a Gentleman). It features scenes from the film with his character, the imaginary friend that’s an old bear named Lewis. The legendary actor, Academy, and Primetime Emmy Award winner passed away on March 29, 2024. The dedication reads, โIn loving memory of our friend, Louis Gossett Jr.โ His role in IF was one of his last, and he played it well.ย
As for whether or not IF teases a sequel in any way, it doesnโt. However, there’s a montage at the end showing how some characters ended up. Even though there isnโt a direct sequel tease, IFโs story leaves plenty of room open for a possible sequel. Although, that doesnโt mean that IF shouldnโt have had some sort of post-credits scene. A comedic sequence could have worked well. Or maybe even a look at some behind-the-scenes footage with Fleming and Reynolds talking to tennis balls.ย
Itโs worth noting that while IF doesnโt have a post-credits scene, there’s a funny credit that you should look out for. When the credits are going through who voiced the imaginary friends, pay special attention to who voices Keith. Keith is the invisible imaginary friend, so itโs a fun little nod to another movie. As for a sequel, John Krasinskiโs not opposed to making them, having made A Quiet Place Part II. Ultimately weโll need to see how IF fares at the box office for a clearer picture of whether weโll see an IF 2.
You can watch the movie yourself when IF releases on May 17, 2024.
