Does Trap Have a Post-Credits Scene?

Is there a surprise Admiral Ackbar cameo?

Set during a concert, Trap follows Cooper – a father and secret serial killer – who realizes that the authorities have the building surrounded. Once he finds out that they’re after him, Cooper does everything he can to make sure he gets out alive, and that his daughter doesn’t find out who he is. Directed by M. Night Shyamalan (Split), Trap stars Josh Hartnett (The Faculty) in the leading role, while Ariel Donoghue (Wolf Like Me) plays his daughter Riley. You might be wondering if there’s some sort of twist at the end of the credits, so let’s see whether or not Trap has a post-credits scene.

If you’ve made it all the way to the end of the film, you’ll want to wait slightly longer, because Trap does have a post-credits scene. The scene is short and plays right after the credits begin, so you won’t have to wait too long once the main film ends to see it. There’s no after-credits scene at the end of the movie, so don’t feel the need to watch the entire credits sequence. Although, you could always see the names of the hardworking people who worked on the film.

Trap’s post-credits scene doesn’t show off a final twist, or tease a sequel. Instead, it’s a comedic stinger that actually fits the tone of the film. It continues the story for one of the characters you meet early on in the movie, but we won’t spoil who that is. Trap is fairly self-contained so there didn’t necessarily need to be a tease for a sequel in a post-credits scene. Although, you could easily see Shyamalan returning for a sequel based on the film’s ending.

It’s not as if Shyamalan hasn’t made a sequel before, making Split years after Unbreakable and subsequently releasing the third installment, Glass, in 2019. While that franchise is the only example of Shyamalan making direct sequels to his films, it’s not beyond the realm of possibility that he decides to make a sequel to Trap. But that’s undoubtedly reliant on how successful the film is at the box office, so ultimately, we’ll have to wait and see.

You can watch Trap when it comes to theaters on August 2, 2024.
