Dove Cameron sparked a wave of concern over her weight as she shared stunning Instagram snaps showing her 2023 MTV VMAs look last fall. While the actress’ September 2023 photo gained over 1.8 million likes, they didn’t come without drama as fans expressed worry that Dove was getting too thin.
Dazzling in her backless glitter dress, the former Disney star stunned as she rocked super-thin spaghetti straps while modeling her slinky number, however some were of the opinion that she needs to gain a few pounds. One user even told The Descendants actress to “eat carbs.”

Shot against a dark blue backdrop as she leaned forward and gazed ahead, Dove showed off her super-slim frame as she rocked her figure-hugging, sequin-covered dress and placed her hands around her hips.
Showing off her statement tattoos, but also some visible ribs, Dove flaunted her doll-like features as she wore her jet-black hair down and straight, also rocking diamond ring jewelry to match her elegant earrings. Showing more of her backless number in a swipe right, the 28-year-old folded her arms around her torso while posing with closed eyes, this time flaunting her curvy hips and slender waistline as she went for a sensual vibe.
Further photos switched between close-ups and full-length shots, with one image revealing the gorgeous black gown to be floor-length. “@vmas,” Dove captioned her gallery.
Fans Are Saying She Needs ‘Carbs’
While many fans gushed over Dove and her glam look, some were voicing concern. “Nobody is talking about how thin she is,” one said. “Are you ok?” another asked.
“Girl! You need to eat your carbs! Trying to look after you! Youโre beautiful, but you should allow yourself to eat anything you want, not just healthy! ( though being healthy is good ๐) on my brothers account, love your music!” a third replied, seemingly trying not to skinny-shame the eating disorder survivor. Unfortunately for Dove, suggestions that she needs to eat continued. “Someone get this girl a cheeseburger,” one fan stated.
Dove had made 2018 headlines for opening up about her recovery journey from anorexia, and she did point the finger at the industry she’s in.
“Because that’s such a thing in Hollywood. We never want to say it, but it’s such a big thing. Girls try to be as thin as possible. Not all of them, but a lot of them,” the actress told Teen Vogue.
