What a day to be an RPG fan. After years of waiting, of silence, of speculation, we have news about Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, or rather, Dragon Age: The Veilguard. BioWare has announced the new name for its upcoming RPG. Furthermore, those eager to know more about this adventure won’t have to wait long. Besides the packed summer we have already with events and showcases, the developers are also hosting theirs. If you want to take a peek at this upcoming game, you only have to wait a few more days.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the new name for the series’ next mainline game. According to the team, this name reflects more what the game is trying to tell in its story.

Exciting news, #DragonAge fans! Join us on June 11 for the first official gameplay reveal.

Each of the seven unique characters that make up your companions will have deep and compelling storylines where the decisions you make will impact your relationships with them โ€“ as well as their lives. Youโ€™ll unite this team of unforgettable heroes as you take on a terrifying new threat unleashed on the world. Naturally, the Dread Wolf still has an important part in this tale, but you and your companions โ€“ not your enemies โ€“ are the heart of this new experience.

So, to capture what this game is all about, we changed the name as the original title didnโ€™t show just how strongly we feel about our new heroes, their stories and how youโ€™ll need to bring them together to save all of Thedas.

Gary McKay, Executive Producer, Dragon Age, and General Manager, BioWare

The fact that the game is leaning more into companions’ storylines and talking about player agency already is something that should excite everyone. Furthermore, we’ll get to see more details on June 11 at 8:00 am PT once the official gameplay reveal happens. You can watch it on the game’s official YouTube channel. According to the announcement, the showcase will last around 15 minutes and will include the opening moments of the game, making it a must-watch for fans of the series.

Ever since Dragon Age: Dreadwolf was announced, many were left wondering what road the series would take next. With Dragon Age: Inquisition being a huge success and modernizing the franchise, we’re curious to see where Dragon Age: The Veilguard will take us. Also, with more tangible information now, it isn’t crazy to believe the release date might be near. But we’ll have to wait for an official announcement on that, though. Still, the fact that we’ll get our first look at this adventure next week is the cherry on top of an already delicious summer.
