Drake’s Friend and Producer Gordo Says Rapper’s “Been Past” Beef With Kendrick Lamar

Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s beef has dominated the headlines over the last few months. However, according to Drake’s producer, Gordo, the feud is now a thing of the past for the rapper. In a recent interview, Gordo opened up about his friend’s state following the highly publicized rap feud. The Grammy-nominated beatmaker revealed that Drake had moved past the friction that defined his relationship with Lamar.

“He’s been past it. The thing is that he was just on the longest tour ever. He literally just did a tour for like a year. I think he’s just chilling,” Gordo told People.

The Drake and Kendrick Lamar beef began in March after Metro Boomin and Future released their song Like That. In the track, Lamar called out Drake and J. Cole, igniting the rap war of the decade. The God’s Plan crooner didn’t stay quiet about it and went on to release his first diss track, Push Ups. This resulted in both parties trading words in diss tracks throughout the spring. Eventually, Lamar concluded the battle (for now) with the one-two punch of Meet the Grahams and Not Like Us. Following the end of the battle, fans speculated Drake was feeling low as he didn’t necessarily go out on top.

However, Drake’s producer, Gordo, told People the Grammy Award winner had never been happier.

“Ever since all these happened…I’ve seen him happier. It’s really weird. He’s pretty jolly,” he said.

The DJ also addressed a photo of Drake looking sad, which went viral after Like That dropped. He revealed it was simply a bad photo from a bad camera. The DJ said fans and the media blew it out of proportion because it was “Drake.” But in real life, Gordo said Drake was anything but sad. “The guy’s been happy as s**t, to be honest. He’s chilling,” he told the publication. Meanwhile, Gordo and Drake have been spending more time together and working on the former’s upcoming album. With Gordo’s words about Drake moving on from his beef with Kendrick Lamar, fans will have to wait if the feuding rappers have a go at each other again.
