Drizzt Do’Urden may be the most well-known Drow in Dungeons and Dragons lore and he’ll soon be a playable video game character. The Game Awards announced the team behind D&D is partnering with Tuque Games for Dungeons and Dragons Dark Alliance.

While gaming at the table may be the best way to experience Dungeons and Dragons, there are a lot of video games around the property. Dark Alliance will be the first co-op D&D game that will have players control Drizzt and his fellow companions.

Tuque Games announced they were partnering with Wizards of the Coast in October of this year for the game in the Dungeons and Dragons universe. The first trailer for Dark Alliance premiered during the 2019 game awards.

We here at @Wizards_DnD are thrilled to finally announce @DarkAlliance to the world! Slay together as Drizzt, Wulfgar, Catti-brie, and Bruenor in this 4 player Co-op Action RPG. Mind blowing riffs provided by @inflames_swe.

From the trailer, it appears it will follow the events in the book series The Legend of Drizzt by R.A. Salvatore. Players will be able to take control of four of the book’s characters. Along with Drizzt, they can play as the human barbarian Wulfgar, human warrior Catti-brie, and the dwarf king of Guantlygrim Bruenor Battlehammer

The trailer shows all four characters fighting in the icy landscape of Icewind Dale. It’s one of the most unique trailers as well. Cameras sweep by the character as they battle against hordes of goblins until finally facing down ice giants.

The one thing that is odd to me is there is no mention of the halfling Regis. He travels with Drizzt as well but is not a playable character featured in the trailer. I suppose it makes sense because he never did any fighting in the books. He always hid. So, maybe he’s hiding behind some goblins and we’ll see him later.

Dark Alliance is a follow-up game to Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance released in 2001 for PlayStation 2, Xbox, GameCube, and Game Boy Advance.

There is no release date for Dungeons and Dragons Dark Alliance as of yet. Tuque Games will release new information about Drizzt and company in the coming months.
