As the highest paid actor in Hollywood, itโs no surprise that Dwayne โThe Rockโ Johnson has his hand in every cookie jar in the industry. Now it seems the former WWE superstar turned actor may star in Universal’s upcoming monster movie Wolfman.
The upcoming movie ties in as a part of the recently announced Dark Universe, Universals equivalent to the Marvel established universe. If the rumors are true, Johnson would join a star-studded cast currently making up the universe, including Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Russell Crowe, Javier Bardem and Johnny Depp, with much more still to come.
As of now, the only two films on the docket are The Mummy (starring Cruise, Boutella, and Crowe) which releases on June 9, 2017, and Bride of Frankenstein (Starring Depp and Bardem) which will be released in 2019. Currently, the iconic female monster remake has yet to cast its leading lady, though rumors have been swirling that the role may belong to Angelina Jolie.
The Dark Universe would be the second such established universe that The Rock would be a part of, as he will star in DC universesโ Black Atom. Alongside a rumored spinoff movie with Jason Statham in the Fast and the Furious franchise, Johnson is also currently filming the movie adaptation of popular 90โs video game Rampage.
Needless to say, Johnson is staying busy, but his most recent movie, Baywatch has faced a fair bit of criticisms, leading fans to think that he may be overexerting himself with too many big budget films. Despite this, The Rock is still staying positive, and we doubt that it will stop him from taking up any other big roles like the possible Wolfman reboot for Universal.
