Musk condemned the President’s proposed “big, beautiful bill,” noting that it would ultimately undermine everything DOGE stood for. He divulged,
“I was disappointed to see the massinve spending bill frankly, which increases th budget deficit, not just decrease it. And it undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing. I think a bill can be beautiful, but I don’t know if it can be both.”
Donald Trump dismissed Elon Musk’s concerns while speaking at the Oval Office on Wednesday, claiming that he was still unsatisfied with aspects of the bill, and hence, more changes to the legislation could follow as it passes the Senate, per AP News. While the POTUS did not directly address Musk’s remark, these differing opinions represent a shift in their relationship dynamics, given that the duo have basically echoed each other’s sentiments since forging their political bromance.
