After a couple of years of fans citing superhero fatigue, and some poorly received releases, it looks like we’re getting a decline in the superhero genre. Of course, if the Marvel schedule seems a little light it’s likely due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, more than anything else. Marvel’s 2024 line-up contains a little less than usual with the MCU only having one feature film on the schedule. Although, there are plenty of Disney Plus offerings if all of the shows slated for 2024 make it. Let’s take a look at all the Marvel movies and TV shows set to release in 2024.

Madame Web

First up is a movie in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, Madame Web. Directed by S.J. Clarkson, it is slated for a theatrical release on February 14, 2024. The film follows a Spider-Man supporting character called Cassandra Webb, who has clairvoyant abilities. Played by Dakota Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey), Webb attempts to use her powers to protect three young women who are being targeted for their spider-based abilities. It also stars Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria), Celeste O’Connor (Ghostbusters: Afterlife), Isabela Merced (Dora and the Lost City of Gold), and Tahar Rahim (Napoleon).

X-Men ’97

The first Marvel animated series to release in 2024 is the revival of X-Men: The Animated Series, X-Men ‘97. It is currently set to come to Disney Plus in early 2024, but we don’t have a more precise release date so it could suffer some delays. Taking place after the last episode of the original series, the X-Men will be led under Magneto, and they will be facing Mister Sinister as the main villain of the season. Some of the original voice cast will return, while some characters have been recast. A second season for X-Men ‘97 is reportedly in development.

The first and only MCU movie to release in 2024 will be Deadpool 3. Ryan Reynolds will be returning as the titular anti-hero, in his first outing in the MCU. Hugh Jackman will also be returning as Wolverine as the film is supposedly bridging the gap between the Fox X-Men universe and the MCU. Morena Baccarin and Brianna Hildebrand will also be returning as Vannesa and Negasonic Teenage Warhead respectively. Deadpool 3 was directed by Shawn Levy, and it is set to be released on July 26, 2024.

Kraven the Hunter

The second Sony-made Marvel film of the year, Kraven the Hunter, is slated for a theatrical release on August 30, 2024. It will be turning one of Spider-Man’s greatest villains – Sergei “Kraven the Hunter” Kravinoff – into an anti-hero, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Godzilla). He isn’t the only villain in the movie, as Calypso, Rhino, Foreigner, and Chameleon are all lined up to appear. Directed by J. C. Chandor, Kraven the Hunter will also star Ariana DeBose (West Side Story), Fred Hechinger (The White Lotus), Christopher Abbott (Poor Things), and Russell Crowe (Gladiator).

Agatha: Darkhold Diaries

Another Marvel Disney Plus series will be arriving in late 2024, the spin-off of WandaVision, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries. It will be following the villain of that series, Agatha Harkness, as played by Kathryn Hahn. Darkhold Diaries will also star Aubrey Plaza (The White Lotus), Sasheer Zamata (Saturday Night Live), Joe Locke (Heartstopper), and Patti LuPone (Beau Is Afraid). It will be taking place after WandaVision, with Agatha free of the spell Wanda Maximoff trapped her in. Perhaps the spell faded after her “death” in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Venom 3

Tom Hardy will be returning in Venom 3, the third and last film in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe this year. Hardy’s Eddie Brock has not been seen since Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. As of writing, we don’t know anything about the film’s plot. We do know that it’s being directed by Kelly Marcel, who co-wrote all three films in the series. It’s set to release on November 8, 2024, and it has also been reported to star Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor.

Eyes of Wakanda

If there was a show most likely to be delayed on this list it would be Eyes of Wakanda because we haven’t seen anything from it online. Nonetheless, the animated TV series is still slated to come to Disney Plus in 2024. The spin-off of Black Panther has been described with the following logline, “Throughout Wakandan history, brave warriors have been tasked to travel the world retrieving dangerous vibranium artifacts. This is their story.” There just needs to be a Law & Order-style “dun dun” at the end of that and it could run for 20 seasons.

Marvel Zombies

Another animated spin-off – this time of What If…? – Marvel Zombies is also slated to be released on Disney Plus in 2024. We don’t know too much about this show either, but according to an interview with Comicbook and writer Zeb Wells, it will be four episodes. We also know that Iman Vellani will be returning to voice Ms. Marvel, one of the show’s main characters. It is supposed to be a continuation of the What If…? episode.

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man

A Spider-Man animated series, now entitled Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, is the last Marvel series slated for 2024. Again, this doesn’t have an exact date, but it would be hard to believe that none of the Marvel animated shows slated for 2024 could make that date. While some of the reported voice cast are live-action actors reprising their roles, it seems like this series will take place in an alternate reality. We’ll see a younger Peter Parker learning the ropes.
