  • What You Should Watch Before Loki Season 2
  • Which Route Is Right For You?
This article is over 1 years old and may contain outdated information.

The second season of one of the best shows set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is almost here with Loki arriving on October 5, 2023. The second season sees all of the main cast from the first season make their returns, with newcomer Ke Huy Quan playing a new character named OB. If you don’t keep up with every new addition to the MCU, you might be wondering exactly what you should watch before Loki season two to understand all the potential storylines. So, let’s take a look at some of the routes you can take if you’re trying to catch up.

You could take three different routes if you wanted to catch up on the MCU before Loki season two. The first way is what you might call the overachiever route. Watch everything chronologically in the MCU, starting with Iron Man and ending with Secret Invasion. But you couldn’t get this done before the show begins, and some of you might not be able to do it before it even finishes. So, we have option two, the best choice for learning everything you need for Loki’s second season.

The second route is to watch all of Loki’s storyline. If you want to go this route you should watch the following:

  • Thor (2011)
  • The Avengers (2012)
  • Thor: The Dark World (2013)
  • Thor: Ragnarok (2017)
  • Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
  • Avengers: Endgame (2019)
  • The first season of Loki (2021)
  • Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023)

This would guarantee that you know everything you would need to know about the upcoming season of Loki. This route covers Loki’s full storyline in the MCU, as well as Kang’s introduction in Quantumania. The third route is by far the quickest. All you would need to watch is the first season of Loki. This would cover all of the new MCU characters that were introduced in the series.

The third route does leave substantial gaps. If you have not watched any of the movies before, it’s not suggested that you start with Loki. You should at least take the second route. But, if you’ve already watched everything in the MCU and are just looking for a refresher rewatch, the third route should be viable for you. Especially seeing as Loki season two will probably touch on the events of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania anyway. But, we will ultimately know more about which MCU projects the show touches on when Loki season two comes to Disney Plus on October 5, 2023.
