Evil Dead: The Game is the latest asymmetrical multiplayer game akin to the likes of IllFonic’s Friday the 13th: The Game and Dead by Daylight which sees players taking control of any character from the franchise or as one of the series’ monsters. While multiplayer is the main selling point of the game, players will want to know if there is a story mode that gives some new content for the narrative of the beloved franchise. While it’s a simple question, the answer needs some explanation. This guide will tell you if the new Evil Dead: The Game has a Story Mode.

Does Evil Dead: The Game Have A Story Mode?

The answer to whether or not Evil Dead: The Game has a story mode is both yes and no. Allow me to explain. There are two types of single-player content. The closest to what fans would likely call a story mode is called “Missions” which can be accessed via the main menu. There are five missions currently available, with a sixth one on the menu that is locked and will become available at a later date. These missions don’t have an overarching narrative, but they do give a look at events tied to the original films and Ash vs. The Evil Dead series while also providing a twist on the gameplay with unique objectives when compared to the multiplayer. Completing these missions will unlock new content, such as the Ash vs. The Evil Dead version of Ash Williams’ character as well as some collectibles and bonuses. Besides those missions, you can also play the regular multiplayer game by yourself with both AI companions as well as AI opponents. This is nowhere near the best way to play, but if you want to get the lay of a map or need to waste some time before your squad hops on and don’t want to deal with randoms, this is a suitable replacement.

Unfortunately, these single-player modes do require you to be online to access, so if you happen to lose internet access, you are unable to play the game’s single-player content.

Evil Dead: The Game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via the Epic Games store. The game is set to come to Nintendo Switch in the future.
