You’d think that the “Get off my lawn” trope with old people is long gone in today’s modern age, but an unhinged Florida man and his wife would have you think otherwise. 70-year-old Daniel Lukas chases down a 12-year-old boy and his friend for fishing at a pond behind his house. Lukas grabbed the preteen by the neck and violently pushed him around, while his wife screamed at the boy’s friend for filming the ordeal.

The 14-year-old girl repeatedly told the angry older man that he shouldn’t be laying hands on a minor. That’s when the wife approached the girl, saying, “Well, I can lay my hands on you because I’m a woman,” after which the woman chased her down and began shaking her after throwing her phone to the ground. The 70-year-old Florida man was arrested and charged with battery, but he was later let go on bond, according to WINK News.
Reportedly, there is a ‘No Fishing’ sign by the neighborhood pond, but the boy and his friend had failed to notice it. Still, that doesn’t warrant violence, especially against a child. Users on Reddit comment on how the older man is probably one to complain about kids these days on their phones, but then attacks one for fishing outside. “They b*tch because kids donโt play outside and when kids DO play outside, they still b*tch,” remarks a Redditor. “Nice job grandpa, ya prick!!” added another.
Taking one look at the neighborhood they’re in, the Florida man and his wife are probably well off, not to mention they can afford a lawyer. So the fact that they are petty enough to get angry enough to physically assault children over fishing at a pond is pretty pathetic. “Sad human being,” as one Instagram commenter puts it. If anything, other neighbors now know who not to invite to the neighborhood get-together the next time one rolls around.
