Funimation is ending their contract with streaming service Crunchyroll. The news comes from anย official statement on their website.

“As many of you know, we have had an ongoing partnership with Funimation the last two years, sharing anime between users. Unfortunately, Funimation has decided to go their separate way, and this partnership will be winding down on Friday, November 9th.”

The partnership between the two companies began in 2016 and allowed fans to watch several titles shared between the two networks. Funimation showed subtitled anime titles on Crunchyroll while doing the opposite and bringing dubbed content to Funimation.

With the contract ending, fans will be left with fewer options to stream from both sites. Although, series currently on air; Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia, that started during the partnership will still be available. Fans will be thankful to know both streaming sites say their home video releases will continue to come out plus pre-orders will be fulfilled.

“However, a list of select catalog titles licensed via Funimation will be leaving Crunchyroll – likewise, the Funimation catalog will also be impacted. That list is currently being finalized between both parties, and we will share impacted titles with you as available.”

Funimation content will also be leaving the streaming website VRV, according to an official release on their website.

VRV says even though they will be losing Funimation content, they struck a deal with the newest anime streaming service on the web, HIDIVE.

“Anime favorites from HIDIVE, like Made in Abyss, Food Wars, Elfien Lied, Bloom Into You, and Highschool of the Dead, will be available on VRV in just a couple weeks with their full catalog of 500+ titles soon to follow.”

Fans will be able to watch Crunchyroll and HIDIVE’s selection of dubbed and subbed anime on VRV. The contract ends November 9th, 2018.
