Of all the things that the Donald Trump administration has done since taking office, leaking classified information is one act that Hillary Clinton is not letting slide. During her 2016 campaign, Clinton faced backlash from Republicans for using a private server for confidential emails when she was the US secretary. And now she has put the government under similar scrutiny after it was revealed they leaked war plans.
The former Secretary of State took to X to weigh in on the security breach. She posted a screenshot of an Atlantic article written by Jeffrey Goldberg titled βThe Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans.β Alongside the screenshot, the politician subtly jabbed at the Trump leadership in the caption. βπ You have got to be kidding me,β the 77-year-old penned.
Per the article, Goldberg joined an unsecured group chat called βHouthi Pc Small Group after the National Security Advisor Mike Waltz mistakenly sent him an invitation. Top government officials such as Vice President JD Vance and Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth were in the group, discussing US airstrikes targeting Houthi positions in Yemen. The 18-person chat also contained the targets’ locations, identities, and the strikes’ frequency.
Donald Trump Reacts Amid Hillary Clinton Backlash: ‘I Know Nothing’
Following the publication, a reporter questioned the US President about the security breach. He claimed he was unaware of it, saying, “I donβt know anything about it,β the president said. βIβm not a big fan of the Atlantic. To me, itβs a magazine thatβs going out of business, but I know nothing about it. Youβre telling me for the first time.β
Within minutes, Clintonβs post went viral, and some Internet users joined her in bashing the government for such a crucial blunder.
βWhat a double standard!β an Internet user condemned.
“They spent all this time bemoaning Hilary’s use of a private account. What’s their response to putting our national security in jeopardy themselves? Inexcusable you say, Rubio?β a second comment read.
βThere were five different investigations into Hillary for using an insecure service. Wanna bet we see zero for this?β wrote another netizen.
This person poked fun at the situation, writing, βThe new upcoming text leak will be Trump texting Putin, βAnything you want, Boss. I’ll make it happen.ββ
Another user added, βYeah, she’s allowed to be mad about this one ngl.“
On the other hand, some internet users protested that Clinton didn’t have the right to criticize the government for an act she had previously done.
βOf all the people complaining, she has no room to even talk about leaked information after what she did,β one user blasted. βShe and the Obamas just need to go away.β
A second person wrote, βHillary is the last person who should open her mouth.β A third critic added, βAnd she couldn’t resist taking a jab. Lol…she doesn’t seem to remember 33000 emails deleted from her personal phone, huh…what’s worse?β
βConveniently forgetting her own political history,β read another comment.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has since called an investigation into the group chat scandal. However, other GOP lawmakers are downplaying the incident.
