I understand that some grandparents might want to do thoughtful things to remind their grandchildren of them. So it’s not surprising if they decide to get a tattoo that represents them. It is crazy, though, when a grandparent decides to get a tattoo of three apes to represent her Black grandchildren. This is what a White mother-in-law did in Kansas. The kids’ mother, who used the words Black and biracial to describe her kids, shared the horrifying situation. She called it a “horrible racist decision.” Unfortunately, everyone in her husband’s family and her husband himself believes that she is overreacting. Her partner didn’t even support her or share her anger which is just insane. Those are your kids. The mother also shared how she keeps asking her mother-in-law to cover the racist tattoo whenever she is around her.
According to the Kansas mother, she is allowed to ask her mother-in-law to cover up the tattoo. She is right about that. Other people might have asked her to get a sleeve tattoo to cover it up, but she didn’t do that. Now, she is demanding a divorce. The racist tattoo was the last straw, especially since her husband hasn’t been treating her that well either. This, along with the fact that he didn’t share her anger or support her, was enough to make her make up her mind. The Kansas mother was even kind enough to ask people not to send her mother-in-law death threats. She also shared that this won’t help her legally if people keep doing this.
Along with the mother-in-law receiving hate over her racist tattoo, the tattoo artist also received hate for doing it in the first place. This made the Kansas mother reach out to him to ask about it. Once he learned what the tattoo meant, he was left in shock. He told her that he didn’t know what the tattoo was for because he doesn’t ask his customers a lot of questions. So he definitely doesn’t deserve any hate. If people are going to be judging someone, they should judge the husband, his mother, and their entire family. They even had the audacity to tell the furious mother to get over it. She has every right to want a divorce. Imagine being racist to your own grandchildren and thinking that you did nothing wrong.
People Reacting to the Kansas Mother-in-Law’s Racist Tattoo
Everyone was left with their mouths hanging open after they heard what the Kansas mother-in-law did. They were even more shocked when they saw a picture of the racist apes tattoo. This made one person write, “I would love to hear her explanation of this. Cause this is crazy.” Another person said, “wow this is a thousand times worse than what I imagined.” While the kids’ mother didn’t exactly call her mother-in-law racist, someone believed that this is what she should be called. “There’s only 1 reason someone would depict their black grandchildren like that as a tattoo, they’re racist,” they wrote. Others kept writing how shocked they were as one woman wrote, “I am speechless. I cant believe it.” Another woman also said, “I. Am. Shook. Absolutely. Shook.” That’s a reasonable reaction.
Some people remained convinced that even if the Kansas mother-in-law covered up the tattoo, she is still terrible. “I am so confused. Covering up her tattoo does not change the fact that she sees her own grandchildren as apes. Those children should never be around her. And why TF has your husband not stood up for his children?” one woman wrote. It’s definitely sad that the husband didn’t support his wife. A lot of people also said that they would take their kids away from such an environment. “Girl get your babies away from those people‼! I’m so sorry,” one person wrote. A TikTok user also sent the mother advice as they said, “Before you file for divorce dot your i’s and cross your t’s. Family’s like this go full force for custody.” Hopefully, the Kansas mother’s divorce would go smoothly. She doesn’t deserve to endure more terrible things.
