2015 is gearing up to be an eventful year for 90’s media fans,  considering the amount of reboots being both proposed and planned. Some fan favorites include Full House (Fuller House), The X Files, School of Rock, Twin Peaks, Dragon Ball Z, Coach and Scream. One of the most anticipated however is a Paramount Television spin off of Galaxy Quest, a 1999 DreamWorks science fiction action comedy film starring Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub and Sam Rockwell.

The film follows a troupe of actors from a once popular television show called Galaxy Quest, who end up being transported to a spaceship by a group of aliens donned in cosplay and subsequently tasked with defeating an alien nation. It largely parodies Star Trek and its fandom, but does so in such a way that pays tribute, rather then mocks fans. The film received critical praise, with J.J. Abrams claiming it to be “one of the best Star Trek movies  ever made,”on Blu-ray commentary and making the Readers Digest list of The Top 100+ Funniest Movies of All Time.

The television script will most likely be written by Robert Gordon, who wrote the original film script. Dean Parisot (original director) and Mark Johnson (one of the original producers) will most likely be involved as well. Stay tuned for updates.
