The Altar of Mirages is a Sumeru Domain in Genshin Impact that can be found within an underground ruins in the Hypostyle Desert of the Great Red Sand. Similar to the Temple of the Falcon in Mondstadt, this Domain can only be completed once. Its level, “Behind the Illusory Curtain,” rewards participants with 500 Adventure EXP, 40 Primogems, 30,000 Mora, 5 Dendro Sigils, The Sunken Years Artifact, 2 Guides to Praxis, 2 Hero’s Wits, and 4 Mystic Enhancement Ore upon completion. Clearing this Domain is relatively straightforward, but the process of unlocking might prove to be tricky for those without guidance.

To get started on unlocking the Altar of Mirages Domain in Genshin Impact, players must begin the World Quest, “Golden Slumber,” by speaking to a Mondstadt merchant in Aaru Village named Bonifaz. This World Quest series is fairly long, so be prepared to complete at least an hour’s worth of content.

After players complete all four parts of “Golden Slumber,” they will receive a subsequent quest called “Dual Evidence,” the first part of “Old Notes and New Friends.” During this quest, participants will obtain full clearance on the Scarlet Sand Slate, which will enable them to enter the locked door where the entrance to the Altar of Mirages Domain can be found. Accordingly, once players have received clearance, they can fast travel to the Waypoint in the Khemenu Temple. Head to the central chamber and go into the room on the right. Inside this room, investigate the right wall to find a closed door with a device on its left.

Previously, this door would have been inaccessible, but because players have received full clearance on the Scarlet Sand Slate during “Dual Evidence,” they can interact with the device to enter. Inside, Travelers will find several grapple points, including a Dendroculus. Jump into the large hole in the center of the chamber and glide down into the large sandy cavern below. As players float downward, the entrance of the Domain will come into view. After landing, approach the door to the Altar of Mirages in Genshin Impact and interact with it to enter “Behind the Illusory Curtain.”

Genshin Impact is available on PC, Android, iOS, PS4, and PS5.
