This new version wasย developed by Fullbright, in-house, and will utilize the Unity 5 engine. This is an upgrade from Unity 4 used on the original game. Itย will, also, feature ninetyย minutes of behind-the-scenes developer commentary.
Gone Home for consoles has endured a shaky development cycle with financial issues hitting Majesco Independent, the gameโs publishing label. Whatever financial issues the publisher faced have been resolved, thanks in partnership with Midnight City. Midnight Cityโs plan to publish Gone Home on consoles was, originally, announced way back in March 2014. However, Fullbright designer Steve Gaynor said, earlier this year, that the deal had โcome to an end.โ This left the console version โnot actively in developmentโ at the time. It appears that things have fortunately worked out in the end.

I think the above video pretty much says it allโ but let me just say how excited we are to put the game in front of a whole new audience of players. Ever since Gone Home came out weโve wanted to be able to bring it to people who maybe arenโt PC gamers, or donโt have a good enough computer, or who just want to play in their living room, maybe to share the experience with a friend or loved one from the comfort of their couch. Our goal wasnโt to add or change things, but just to bring the game that players know & love onto consoles in the best possible form we could.ย Weโre really excited for you all to get your hands on it!
Gone Homeย is set in the year 1995, and the plot focuses on the exploration of a mansion in Portland, Oregon, examining common household objects within the home. It is a game where you interactivelyย explore storylines, of theย human story,ย fromย one family, and what they have left behind.
