Halo Infinite is easily one of the more anticipated games of 2021, following the previous delay of its Holiday 2020 release window. While the initial gameplay video didn’t visually look too stunning, it signaled a return to form for Halo after the mediocre reception of Halo 5: Guardians. While we still don’t have an idea of an exact release date, 343 Industries has today given us something else along with additional details regarding the game. Announced via the first “Inside Infinite” developer blog, Halo Infinite now will launch in Fall of 2021, just under one year after the game’s original launch window.

Joseph Staten, Creative Director on Halo Infinite, had this to say regarding the delay:

I joined 343i right as the team was wrestling with feedback from the July campaign demo. This discussion boiled down to one fundamental truth: we needed more time to do things right. That included pushing hard in the Fall, giving the team time to recharge over the Holidays, and then coming back in January to finish the game at a healthy place to keep the verbs consistent.”

While we’re going to be waiting a while for Halo Infinite, the Inside Infinite blog gave us some additional details regarding what to expect. For one, 343 Industries has heard us loud and clear, the graphics and art need some serious work. As such, the team has worked a lot on the visual design and is continuing to moving forward. You can get a glimpse of that above, which frankly looks much better than it did with much more detail and refined textures. That’s not to even mention the heavily refined lighting, which you can see more of in the blog. Everything from the weapons to the environment looks that much cleaner and should get better with time.

They went on to explain a lot of the customization and live design aspects coming to Halo Infinite. If you want to pick apart the details of the blog post yourself, you can do so here. For now, what are your thoughts on the updated Halo? Do you think this extra year will do a lot for the game? Let me know in the comments below!
