After so much skepticism and anticipation, 90 Day Fiancé: Before The 90 Days star Riley finally made his way to Vietnam to see Violet. However, the much anticipated link-up soon turned into disappointment after Violet went to work and left Riley alone in his hotel room. The American was visibly not happy about this and made his feelings known.
During the episode, Riley admitted he had questions for Violet because he felt more committed than her. During a FaceTime call with his friend Tiffanie, Riley also expressed his disappointment. However, Tiffanie did nothing to ease the situation and suggested Violet might have another man. Riley’s constant complaints have made him unpopular within the 90-Day Fiancé fan base.
In the previous episodes, the army vet hired a private investigator to check Violet out. Later in the episode, the duo met up to go on a tour of Vietnam. But Riley completely ruined the date by constantly trying to force some words of affirmation from Violet. Additionally, Riley was suspicious of everything, creating a tense environment. His attitude made it difficult for them to enjoy the outing. This has become a recurring theme in their relationship, and most 90 Day Fiancé fans feel Riley needs to ease up a little.
Riley Complains Too Much
While Riley’s eagerness to spend time with Violet is understandable, his hastiness to make her the lousy person is where fans draw the line — given that he is well aware she has to work. The army vet has been suspicious of everything about Violet since the season premiered. However, complaining about Violet not skipping work for him seems a bit excessive.
On Reddit, 90-Day Fiancé fans have been making a case for Violet. Most of the users highlighted the harsh working conditions in countries like Vietnam. They then slammed Riley for being inconsiderate and overbearing. The 90 Day Fiancé fans also pointed out how Riley conveniently leaves out that Violet needs to work when complaining about her not being around. While commenting, one user, Forward-Hat-2094, said,
“I can’t stand Riley. He’s complaining about her not spending time with him, but he fails to mention she’s working. Most of all, the Americans this season just make me cringe, like you literally won’t understand your partner’s culture.”
90 Day Fiancé Riley’s Motives Are Suspicious
Despite his constant talks about his feelings for Violet, 90 Day Fiancé fans do not fully trust Riley. The 43-year-old American seems to be overly focused on sexualizing Violet. During their first date in Vietnam, Riley groped Violet’s bum as they posed for a selfie before an armored tank.
Riley commented, “Nice ass,” even before saying “hi” when the two met for the first time. Additionally, Riley constantly brought up Violet’s “ass” during a conversation with his friend. Riley’s obsession with Violet’s bum may be a strong pointer to the fact that he is only interested in her for sex. A Redditor u/BNatasha_65 wrote,
“Eww! I didn’t see that. And next to the tank. Super romantic. If that is a habit of his, groping his woman’s ass in public, he needs to STOP. Especially in very conservative, traditional Vietnam society. Creepy behavior.”
Violet is certainly not a saint, but Riley has shown enough red flags to rule him out as the ideal partner for anyone. While he may have the best intentions, he still seems to be dealing with some hurt from the past, and at this point, it feels like he needs some therapy before venturing into any relationship.
