Recent reports allege, that Nickelodeon has decided to revive one of its’ popular animated series, Hey Arnold!ย The movie is set for a television release with dates yet to be confirmed by studio executives.

Viacom’s cable and satellite channel, Nickelodeon, has been in the news quite a bit lately. The recent popularity surge in its’ nightly ‘TeenNick’ programming block,ย The Splat,ย has given Nickelodeon the jump it needs to produce more content. Nickelodeon foundย its’ originalย audiences in the mid-1990s with shows like Ren and Stimpy and Rocko’s Modern Life.ย As time would have it, that former audience isย now full-grown adults, many with families. Nickelodeon and Viacom are well aware of their modern audience, as such,ย it appears that the time for series revivals in full swing.

President of the content development and production group for Nickelodeon, Russel Hicks, states:

“Kids who grew up on these characters are now of the age that they are having kids and families themselves…Our library has come to fruition and itโ€™s time for it to start coming back to life.”

Hey Arnold!ย is an American television series, created by Craig Barlett, that made its television debut on October 7, 1996. The series rose to popularity and produced ninety-nine episodes and a full-length animated film. In the 2002 film, Arnold, Helga and Gerald set out on a quest to save their old neighborhood from a greedy developer who planned on converting it into a huge shopping mall. The upcoming television film will offer a storyline that continues where the original series left off. The plot could offer truth behind the historyย of Arnold’s parents as well as many other unanswered questions from the series. Currently, Nickelodeon has thirteen animated projects in production with a list of over forty additional projects in development. Be on the look out for more news about Nickelodeon’s original programming.
